Keto Sugar Free Powdered Donuts

You'll probably notice from my other keto recipes on Groovy Keto, I'm a fan of donuts! I'm not sure exactly why. Maybe it's just the round shape with the hole in the middle! They look kind of fun don't they?! Not many keto baking recipes are going to beat this, let's be honest!

When should I consume these keto donuts? Whenever you like, breakfast, lunch, dinner or even a small snack before bed. Just make sure this 2g per donut doesn't exceed your daily carbs limit at the end of the day!

I'm so confident these donuts are so yummy that no one in your house will believe they are actually healthy and low carb.

Ingredients for sugar free powdered keto donuts

The donuts main recipe is blanched almond flour. This is natural low in carbs and high in protein and fat, giving it a great texture for donut making! Also, did I mention these donuts are super quick to make? All of it takes about 25 minutes!

The simplicity of this recipe is one of the great factors, as you're almost guaranteed to have these in your cupboard. Don't worry if you haven't, Groovy Keto have you covered. We've got the blanched almond flour, powdered Erythritol and Xanthan Gum. You just need to find some baking powder and salt (We always recommend himalayan salt as it contains more minerals).

Dry Donut Ingredients

Wet Donut Ingredients

  • 2 Eggs
  • 60g Melted Butter
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract

Powdered Sugar-Free Topping

  • 60g Powdered Erythritol & Stevia blend

Keto Friendly flours to use in these keto donuts

This recipe uses blanched almond flour instead of your standard white flour. Almond flour is keto friendly and gluten-free. You could use coconut flour instead, but be careful, this flour is extremely absorbent, so you'll need to use a 1/3 or even 1/4 the ratio of almond flour. Actually, we have a chocolate keto donut recipe that uses coconut flour.

Sugar substitutes for these keto donuts

We use our own brand of powdered erythritol & Stevia. But you are free to use your own favourite brand of powdered sweetener. This is what we use to add that final finish to these yummy keto donuts!

Don't use sweeteners such as Xylitol, as this has been found to spike your blood sugar levels.

Choosing the right tray for your donuts

Of course, you'll need a donut tray, but we recommend you use a silicone tray. We got ours from Amazon and they are super easy to clean. Also, your donuts will slide straight out of them without sticking to the bottom!

How to make these powdered keto donuts

Firstly, preheat your oven to 170 - 175°C

In a large mixing bowl, add the blanched almond flour, the powdered Eythritol, baking powder, salt and xanthan gum.

Mix the ingredients until they are thoroughly blended

Now add the eggs and butter and whish until it's fully combined

Now grab your donut tray and spray with some baking spray (I use olive oil spray. Coconut oil spray would also do the job). Get a small spoon and start filling each circle in the donut tray. Using the outer of the spoon, smooth them out so the top is nice and smooth.

Transfer to the oven and bake for approximately 15 minutes. Check after 10 minutes, as some ovens cook faster than others. You're know when they're ready to be removed from the oven as the edges around the donut will be solid and pulling away from the circles in the donut tray.

Allow the donuts to completely cool before removing them from the baking tray.

After the donuts have cooled down, spray each donut with the baking spray and immediately dip into a bowl of powdered Erythritol or sweetener of your choice!

Enjoy and please remember to share with the rest of your family!
